<< Back to the Costa del Sol Guide

The Costa del Sol along with the Costa Tropical, Costa de la Luz, etc… make up a significant amount of the land area of Andalucía, and extend over more than eight hundred kilometres and consists of numerous stretches of beaches.
These beaches have seen their environmental value enhanced, and this, together with the quality and warmth of the water and the eternal sun; have made these coasts a favourite tourist spot for holidaymakers from all over the world. 30% of Andalusia’s population lives along the coast, an area which takes up one-tenth of Andalucian geography. This results in a population density ten times greater than inland Andalusia, which is made even greater by a very large seasonal increase from tourism.
As can be imagined, with the popularity of areas like the Costa del Sol, there is a concentration of leisure and sport services all along the coast. The mild climate and the facilities available on the coast for practising all sorts of water sports (sailing, diving, etc.) as well as golf, tennis and all other outdoor activities a year long activity.
Tourist development has been concentrated intensively on certain stretches of coastline, as in the western Costa del Sol, which in 100 km offers half the number of hotel rooms of the whole Andalucian coast. In other parts such development has not been quite so spectacular, although in many cases large projects are under way.
The concentration and demand for areas along the Costa del Sol have also meant that properties with sea views and especially beachfront properties have been aggressively sought after.
The Andalucian coastline currently enjoys excellent health, proof of which are the high percentage of blue flags and the continual increase in the number of visitors. Nevertheless, despite such good news, the authorities, aware of the importance of this sector, already have plans for further improvements and modernisation.
Beach property
As can be imagined beachfront property for sale generates the most interest in potential buyers as many dream of living near the beach or enjoying sea views. There is also the added benefit that few properties generate as much rental income as beach rental properties as they are in heavy demand during the high seasons.
Costa del Sol beaches
With such a large coastline there are many varied beaches on the Costa del Sol. From white sands to grassy dunes.
