La Cala de Mijas (Mijas Bay) forms part of the Municipality of Mijas in the province of Málaga, southern Spain, and is located on the coast and to the west of the mountain-side of Mijas Pueblo. The resort has seen many changes over the years from a small, typically Andalusian white-washed fishing village of the 1950s and 1960s to a busy little resort town serving large numbers urbanizations in the area.
Known previously as "La Cala del Moral" (the Bay of Mulberries) due to the mulberry trees growing in the area, the name was changed in the 1970s to La Cala de Mijas in order to avoid confusion with the similarly named Cala del Moral just outside Malaga.
